TnHomeEd is a network and comprehensive independent clearinghouse of homeschooling information specifically for Tennessee parents and other interested parties.

The mission of TnHomeEd is to provide homeschooling and education information to all parents regardless of why or how they school, who they are, what they believe or their membership status.

TnHomeEd is privately owned and operated by the Brooks' family and financed by the Brooks' family via their own finances, advertising sales, affiliate sales and the occasional gift of money, service or goods from gracious friends of TnHomeEd. TnHomeEd does not charge its members or participating families for any of the information provided.

This site contains MY best understanding of the laws after my own 12+ years of experience in this state, correspondence with other homeschoolers, CRS personnel and DOE employees.  Please understand that any legal information provided on this site is for informational purposes only. You ought to have read the law yourself and consult a licensed attorney if such is your need.

I am the mother of four children. We have been homeschooling since 1992. I have been interested in public policy issues nearly all my life, and education issues since the birth of my children. I write opinion pieces, and do a bit of bookkeeping to help out financially. My husband "works for a living" as they say. We live a very modest life compared to most. We are both long time Christians and are members of a non-denominational church.

I am the founder of TnHomeEd.com, and the recipient of Calvert School's Homeschooling's Best Advocate Award for 2004. I am the State of Tennessee liaison for the National Home Education Network and was a moderator of their legislative list and message boards,  I run a national homeschool legislative watch list and am  a long time member of the Middle Tennessee Home Education Association and of the Tennessee Home Education Association .

I believe that ALL parents have a God given right and responsibility to educate their children. If they choose to homeschool, this site is intended to give them some of the tools they need to fulfill this responsibility.
